Why do people hate on people creating fan merch?

So I keep getting ads on TikTok for fan made items like a keychain and whatnot but everyone in the comments almost EVERY time for every item I get is saying “I hope you get sued” and things like that. I don’t get it and i am so sorry I don’t understand but what is bad about this? Genuinely asking.
