i was reading it’s in his kiss, and for the first few chapters i thought hyacinth and gareth were a good match, nothing wrong with it. he didn’t want her money, nor her body, he just liked her and vice versa. then the scene where he suddenly kissed her was kind of out of the blue and strange, but still okay.

and then the engagement. also cute, didn’t have to compromise her but it’s a bridgerton book after all. he goes to anthony, asks for her hand etc, all okay. until he plans to TRAP HER into marriage?? completely ruined gareth for me and also the match. if someone shouldn’t be trapped into marriage it’s hyacinth, she’d hate it. now i haven’t finished the book yet, but this was just so strange i had to come on here. i know all bridgerton books have their off moments, like benedict seducing sophie after she said she didn’t want to be his mistress and the whole philoise situation (her character was ruined in that book) but THIS? it’s off putting and definitely made me dislike the match (especially gareth) more
