Question: Did the Norse have any laws against abuse of their free or noble women.

I was wondering about this. Did the Vikings of the 7th to 10th century before Christianisation have laws against the abuse of their free or noble women.

If so. What was the severity of the known punishments and the context of such offense being declared able to receive a punishment under Althing legislation ?

Would it be more severe depending on if it was the king's own kin or being a lower class folk or slave not considered a free woman.

Were these considered serious or pardoned among their own ? How did it differ from other European laws at the time dealing with abuse in this context ?
