Looking to get into the AR game

Current milsurp collector looking to add an AR to my arsenal for home defense that I can also use for mid range competition and maybe speed events as well. The FN M16A4 clone looks appealing as does some of the H&R/PSA stuff. Still researching. Any comments and recommendations appreciated.
