Job offer revoked after acceptance. England

I accepted a job offer on friday via a phonecall with the Department manager at a hotel.

I cancelled another interview I had scheduled for the following Monday and gave my current employer my notice. I have had an email from the new employer today revoking the accepted job offer as they claim to have "found candidates more suitable for this role." Firstly, I don't believe that as I am actually taking a couple of steps down to accept this offer and am over qualified in the first place.

But secondly and more importantly, is there anything I can do about it?
