Hello, I have a new construction plaster pool that is starting to look very blotchy / streaky.

My builder of course says this is standard, but after getting my water tested at a local pool store, I showed them these photos and they said this was absolutely not acceptable and that I should be pushing back on the builder to correct this.

For context, this is standard plaster (pearl color). When we chose this, it was a smooth gray solid color and looked very nice. The plaster in the pool now looks nothing like it.

Pool was plastered 2/10 and they did the start up chemicals for a month 3/10. I took over chems and tested the water daily and then started getting professional tests done weekly starting 4/1. Water has looked great, and PH has always been within an acceptable range or just above. (7.9 at the highest.) Builder says the scaling is due to improper water chemistry, or improper brushing. Both are BS as I’ve been brushing 2x daily since the build and have been managing the water to be within an acceptable range.

What should I say to the builder? They are coming out today and take a look after I had a conversation with him yesterday. He’s going to blame me, I’m certain. But I’ve talked to 2 other pool professionals that stated plaster this brand new should not look like it’s 4-5 years old.
