Elderly parents advice

My dad’s a lifelong BMW man. He’s now into his fourth quarter and drives a 420d coupe. Convincing him to let it go is tough. He wants to stay BMW wants second hand but needs something smaller and more comfy (not electric). I think the X1 is the best solve. He’s tried a 1 series but got led towards a msport which isn’t going to solve for ease of use and comfort. What would you advise?
