Got into Zep in the 80s / pre-internet - anyone else have this experience?
Growing up in the 80s, our only source for hearing new (to us) music was on the radio, or through friends tapes/CDs. I started getting into Zeppelin, and would actually record the songs of the radio for further listening. Here's the problem I had - which I wonder if anyone else had - I had NO idea what the actual names of the LZ songs were! "D'yer M'aker"? "Over the Hills and Far Away"? "Black Dog"? "Kashmir"? It seems Led Zeppelin had a lot of songs with very cryptic titles, not mentioned in the lyrics.
Pre-internet, 14 year old me, would then go into the record store looking to buy a Led Zeppelin album and have no idea which one to get. I ended up plunking down my hard earned lawn mowing $ on Led Zeppelin III, and finally figured out the the one that I thought was called "We come from the Land of the Ice and Snow" was actually named "Immigrant Song".
Anyone else have this experience?
