Would you rather have overhead atmos speakers be closer or further from the listening position? My optimal position of 55 degrees lands directly on a floor joist.

I'm adding 6" overhead speakers to a remodel and I would like to set these speakers at 55 degrees. However, my 55 degree location lands directly on a floor joist, so I have to move it to the left (further) or right (closer) by 5 inches. I'm wondering if it would be better to have them further or closer; or if there really is no difference at that amount of space.

Moving them closer would be physically easier because i don't have to contend with duct work. Moving them further would be better for other seating positions because they would be more overhead.

Anyone have any suggestions?
