I just got the emails that my I-485 and I-130 have been officially approved and I’m still processing it. It finally happened.

Yesterday I had my AOS interview at the Cranbury NJ field office and it honestly couldn’t have gone better. I brought my lawyer with me and the officer was super calm and kind. The interview lasted maybe 7 minutes total. He asked me about six basic questions: my name, birthday, when my husband and I met, when I moved in, whether we’ve traveled outside or within the US, and what I do for a living (we own a business together). Then he asked my husband for his name and birthday and moved on to the yes or no admissibility questions. That was it. Super quick and straightforward.

For context: I came to the US in 2007 on a B1/B2 visa when I was five years old. I unknowingly overstayed and have been out of status since 2008. I missed the DACA cutoff by one month, so I’ve just been living in limbo ever since. I’m 23 now, married, and finally was able to apply to adjust my status.

It’s been a long road full of anxiety and waiting, but today I finally feel like I can breathe. If you’re in a similar situation, please know that there is hope. Feel free to ask any questions about my experience or timeline. I’m happy to help however I can.
