I don’t understand how people place Red over the ITCOTCK
I’ll probably get flamed for this since it seems like I’m trashing Red, which I love. I’m just confused since I feel I see a lot of people place it over Crimson King or even say that they think Red is their best. And I do not understand that at all. Sometimes I feel like it’s people picking the ‘cool album’.
But Red is just so much thinner in material to me. Starless is great. Red is great. But Fallen Angel, One More Red Nightmare, and Providence don’t pack as much of a punch compared to I Talk To The Wind or Epitaph or Moonchild. I love Red and it’s probably my favorite but I admit that Crimson King is objectively a stronger album both musically and lyrically. Thematically the songs on Red don’t really tie together like they do on Crimson King which feels stronger as a concept.
