M47 from England, trying again, against his better judgement

Age 40-49

Hello! Last time I did this, I did meet some interesting people, so let's see what happens. Still not expecting miracles, but maybe we can make each other laugh. Which is something, the way of things these days.

So about me. I'm a part-time teacher, and a sort-of-but-not-quite writer. I dabble in non-fiction (very niche history, but if I told you, you could probably find me. So maybe don't ask just yet!) and I'm unconvincingly branching out into fiction. Badly, probably. Someone once told me that I don't write because I want to, I do it because I have to. Which was surprisingly deep and possibly true.

I've been single since forever, and I still occasionally deal with fragments of former lives.

I don't do gaming, or manga. Or film. Or TV except for old, dusty series that no-one remembers (or perhaps wants to remember!). So what do I do with my time? Writing, following bits and pieces of sport, and just … reading. Not necessarily novels (though I dabble... sort of) but non-fiction. A lot of non-fiction.I just sort of absorb things. Facts, details, stories.

And I find people so interesting that I wonder why I don't try harder with them. Because most people have a social circle. I have a social dot. By choice, most days. I have occasional obsessions, but they either pass after a while or burn forever. And music is a passion; though quite possibly nothing you ever heard of unless you time travelled from longer ago than I've been alive!

What am I looking for? Good question, let me know if you work it out. I was once told that I wanted to be seen and heard. Maybe that's what I'm looking for. Or maybe just someone to make me laugh, who doesn't take life too seriously, and is amazing company. Or maybe just someone kind. But definitely someone who doesn't dry up, because I don't have enough small talk for both of us.

Let's finish with a quote. Or a song, but I think a quote might be better. From one of my favourite books: "I'm too vain to be flattered, too old to be ambitious, and I'm ugly as a crab."

You have been warned.
