Thinking about OT training
Hi all! Having worked (unqualified) in childrens services, I spent a few years intending to train as a MH social worker (working in MH was always my motivation). I gave up on this idea after a bit of burnout, but now find my admin job incredibly unstimulating.
I've since been thinking about OT training as an alternative. It sounds more hands-on and more creative than SW can be, and would give me the opportunity to learn in more detail about disability and sensory needs too.
So my questions are:
- Does anyone have any thoughts/experience in how SW and OT compare?
- For an outsider OT can seem quite nebulous -- are there any useful resources that breakdown different roles/areas, and give an idea of the work so I can get a better sense of it? (The RCOT website seems a bit thin)
