Is my friend getting scammed?

Career planning

She has been getting her license to work as a life insurance agent at Aegon. Everything I’ve googled about this company seems to indicate that it’s an MLM, but I don’t know how to bring this up.

She asked me and a couple of our friends if we could help her out with her training. This consists of attending a 20 minute zoom call with her and her boss to “practice” explaining their insurance to prospective clients. She needs to have 10 zoom calls to complete her training, and it would mainly consist of her boss explaining to her friends so she can “learn”.

I don’t know how to decline, it is extremely weird that she needs to find 10 people outside of the company to complete her training. I think that this call would be an attempt to get us to purchase life insurance, or maybe recruit us as well.

She went to a convention last month, as well, where they were just motivating everyone. Apparently they also showed screenshots of the bank account balances of the highest earners in the company. She told us that’s she’s allowed to bring friends to the next convention and that the company would cover either our plane ticket or event ticket. I’m assuming this is to recruit as many people as possible.

What I don’t understand is how they are benefiting from just recruiting people. I see that the licensing costs aren’t huge. I don’t want her to end up losing money with this company, I just don’t know how they’re trying to make money off of her. She’s so excited to finally make money and it’ll be hard to convince her that this isn’t worth her time. If anyone has any information I could use to explain this to her, that would be super appreciated!
