Advice on affordability and mortgage acceptance?
Hi everyone,
My wife and I are hoping to buy our first home early next year, and I’m looking for some advice or insights on whether our situation is realistic especially given our credit history.
Here’s a breakdown of our situation: • Combined income: £110,000 per year • Savings: Around £90,000 (aiming to use this for a deposit) • Debt: £15,000 (will be fully paid off by the end of August) • Property budget: Looking at homes around £450,000 • Credit history: • My wife has decent credit, but a few missed payments on her record • I have poor credit, also with some missed payments
We’re wondering: 1. Is it worth even applying for a mortgage given our credit history? 2. How likely is it that we’d be accepted, and are there lenders who would consider us? 3. Are £450k houses realistic for our current situation?
Any advice or shared experiences would be really appreciated just trying to get a sense of what we might be in for.
Thanks in advance!
