Poop bags - where do I throw them?

I always thought I was just being a Good Samaritan, but here’s the deal: I live in a suburban part of the city and the nearest public trash can is over a mile away. So when my dog poops, I bag it and toss it in someone’s black bin if their trash is out. What do you all do—carry it home? No way I wanna carry that all the way on my walk. Is it bad I do that? It’s not like the black trash bin is going inside their house? AAnd why doesn’t the city put trash cans in neighborhoods?
