we broke up

we broke up because its a horrible time for us to be together, we still love eachother and he messaged me yesterday that we would still stay in contact but he wouldnt talk to me alot, and i accepted it because we ended it off on good terms and we would still keep in contact, but this morning he messaged me “i still love you but i have to move on from now, even though my heart dosent wasnt to, im sorry.” this had me hurt because thats not what he said yesterday, and its obvious he dosent want to leave, on some of his socials it obvious he was very upset with breaking up with me. please give me some advice, i dont want to stress him out anymore, but i really want to talk to him abt it since its such a random switchup. i personally wanted to break up but keep contact. im rlly heartbroken because he is the most important person in my life. ☹️
