about to decide to never get tattooed by men anymore. Would it be appropriate to ask please don’t be so heavy handed because lines will blow out?

General Advice

I (f 27) have over 30 black/grey tattoos, majority by varying male artists local to my area, not all but many range from slightly to very blown out, hence why I kept trying different artists.

I have a few tattoos from women, none of which are blown out. I recently got tattooed by a woman and as she was tattooing me she was mentioning my skin takes ink really well so she doesn’t have to press that hard. My skin also heals super quick and well. I’m good about not drinking or smoking around getting tattooed and my skin is healthy.

Makes me wonder do men just not give a shit about noticing anything when they’re tattooing? Like they just go into it as if they’re tattooing a drunk, leather-skinned, middle aged man with no care. do they just want to hurt me more than necessary? and have their work heal blown out looking kind of shit?

I’m about to get a tattoo by a guy and I feel like before he starts to just be like, hey my skin is sensitive and tattoos blow out easily, would you just be careful about how heavy handed you are? Also out of respect for wanting his work to look good years from now.

Would this be inappropriate to say before he starts? If you’re a male tattoo artist- I’d love to hear your insights regarding this.
