Time to Replace?
House built in 2011, HVAC system is original. Bought in 2023. Had a 'spring tune up' done for the first time last week and it detected two leaks in the coil and one in a valve, confirmed with pressure test. Company is asking about $7,500 to replace the coil system - apparently there was a change in refrigerant regulations recently and so mine are getting harder to find, they have to source one from a few states away - or anywhere from $15k - $20k to replace the entire system, including furnace, etc.
Plan on staying a few more years but not a 'forever home'. Since it is already a ~14-year-old system, and I live where it hits both hot and cold extremes, is it worth it at this point to replace the entire HVAC?
