First Time Visiting ONP - need a some advice
Hi everyone, I'm visiting the PNW in June and decided to spend a few days solo exploring Olympic National Park. It's my first time at the park so I've been reading through Reddit threads/youtube videos/blogs trying to build the best itinerary. To make it easier logistically, I've decided to stay in Port Angeles (I understand that made add driving time, especially for the beaches).
Here's a rough outline of my trip. I'd appreciate any recommendations or suggestions!
Day 1
Arrive at Port Angeles AirBNB in the evening. Dinner in Port Angeles (any local restaurants recs appreciated)
Day 2
Get up early and head to Hurricane Ridge (1 hour) Plan to hike the 3 mile Hurricane Hill loop (1.5-2 hours) and eat a packed lunch.
Day 2 afternoon option #1
Drive to Lake Crescent and head to the Storm King Ranger Station. Hike the Mount Storm King trail (1.5-2hours). Explore the area a bit more before driving back to Port Angeles in the late afternoon (1 hour)
Day 3 afternoon option #2
Drive to Sol Duc Falls (1.5 hours) Enjoy the hot springs and local falls trail. Drive back to Port Angeles (1 hour)
Day 3
Get up early and head to Hoh Rainforest to beat the crowds. (2-2.5 hours) Take the 1.25-mile Hall of Moss trail.
Leave HRF and drive to Ruby Beach/Rialto Beach/La Push (1-1.5 hours) Explore the area and began to make the drive back to Port Angeles (1.5-2 hours)
My main dilemma is my day 1 afternoon. Full preface, I'm an experienced hiker and in good shape. I wouldn't be worried with the difficulty of Mount Storm King. I'm just curious if its doable after visiting Hurricane Ridge. And am I doing a complete disservice by skipping Sol Duc Falls.
Lastly, I know its more driving but I would like to visit one of the beaches. All my research has said Ruby Beach is the best but I'm open to hearing advice or suggestions. I know this is all subject to tides and weather as well.
So yes, lots of driving but hopefully this allows me to cover the most ground in Olympic National Park!
