Healthcare options

I’m from the US and planning to move to France in a few years under VLS-TS. I will not be working at all. What are my options for healthcare in France? From what I’ve read, French typically has both public and private plan.

Is this better (cheaper or quicker access to doctors …) than me getting a global coverage from some insurance companies like Allianz?
