Functional Trainer Help!
Hey all,
I’m looking for advice on selecting a functional trainer for my home gym. I’m 6'0" tall and have a 94” ceiling. I have no problem spending money on quality, but I want to make sure the extra cost is worth it. Here are the setups I’m comparing:
1. Rogue FM-6 Twin (90” height)
- Price: $5,820
- Features: Dual cables, integrated lat pulldown and low row
- Pros: Fits under my ceiling, well-reviewed build
- Concern: Is it really worth $1,000+ more than the others?
2. REP Ares 2.0 (would need 80” rack)
- Price: ~$4,500
- Features: Dual cables, lat pulldown, low row
- Pros: Good value
- Concern: Will the 80” height affect lat pulldown range or usability?
3. Rogue FML-6 Twin (90” height)
- Price: $5,295
- Features: Same as FM-6, but with 5/8” hole spacing instead of 1”
- Pros: Slightly cheaper
- Concern: Is 1” spacing really worth $525 more?
4. Get RX’d Tornado Arms on 86” half rack
- Price: $3,400
- Features: Tornado arms double as lat pulldown and low row
- Pros: Most affordable
- Concern: Are Tornado arms smooth and versatile enough for everyday cable work?
💬 I’d love to hear your experience if you own any of these. Is it worth spending the extra $1–2K for the top-tier options? Any regrets? I’m also open to other suggestions that fit under a 94” ceiling and offer functional trainer + lat/row capability.
Thanks in advance!
