Western Digital MyBook 8Tb - Wheezing / Whistling noise

Hello,

I've recently acquired a WD MyBook 8Tb for my wife, in feb 2025.

Recently I've seen it in action when writing and heard a whistling noise. Was not able to record it, but it sound like a whistle. It disappeared after some time in the writing.

I have been around a lot of HDD, heard the sound of failing HDDs, this is the first time I hear something like that. It's relatively high pitched

What can it be ?
