Romantic Life - all in my head or serious obstacle?

Help

I see people in these posts talk about their relationships with their SOs and I’m curious how you approach (or avoid) the conversation about obvious skin picking habits/evidence (scars) at the start of a relationship.

It’s changed over the years but right now it’s my thumbs and upper legs that are clearly, obviously damaged.

I’ve had plenty off success dating people in the past but I’ve more or less hid my problem as much as possible and never ever brought it up. Nor have they, but these women can’t have just somehow not noticed. Either they didn’t care or they didn’t want to say anything out of kindness. I am sort of left wondering: which one was it??

As I’m single (M) now and looking for a partner, I’m wondering if I just need to accept my flaws, ugly as they are, and embrace whatever comes next, because I think I’m starting to lose confidence internally about it. It’s weird for men too, as we aren’t supposed to be overly concerned with appearance, but it’s too the point where I will need to use little bit of makeup to mask my leg scars because they’re dark and numerous enough to not use mosquitos or something as an excuse. Even with the makeup, my legs look weird.

Ultimately: is the real ick just not having confidence to expose my pasty, scarred up legs, and women don’t care nearly as much as I am projecting onto them? Or am I correct in assuming my issues are pretty unsightly to the average woman? Moreover…… how honest (and when) should one be about their disorder?

note: not looking for confidence boosting, I need actual advice on how to date with this disorder.
