I (25 F) cannot feel 100% emotionally consistent with a guy until he shows stability.
I sometimes have been in denial over these fact, but I guess I realised finally that I open up emotionally and mentally the most only with guys who meets my certain requirements for long term. Now the controversy is, do you think these requirement’s are gold diggerish?
- Has to have a proper degree/education of a stable field.
- Should have a history of holding a stable job/ or has potential to switch job easily and not sit too ideal.
- Needs be earning at least a bit better than me, or has rapid potential to earn better in future.
- Should not be stingy and be a provider and treat be at basics ( travelling like needs to have a car or bike, paying for dates/food no 50-50 )
Listen, I am not asking for anything that I do not earn, or can do the same to my partner. I have all the above 4 and can be a provider financially as well and I will do it on my free will or at time of necessity. So I guess it’s fair only. Now definitely, emotional and mental connections matter to me but I am not very picky in that department.
Now my dating history however has been sad, because I was never able to come in terms that I do needs this things financial stability in a guy to even want to be with him, because I felt gold diggerish about it. So I brushed it off, I dated/relationship close 3-4 men, and all had some form of financial instability. Either one guy was in college with no finance from his parents, or another was a freelancer who barely could pay rent, or another had big dreams but basic education/degree made him struggle getting jobs, another was earning decent only but was a freelancer with past history of being broke a lot and not as such stability in future.
Listen I tried my best, but all of them pointed out promptly that I am emotionally unavailable and I guess I realise now after finally dating a guy meets all the checkboxes as to how free, open and happy I am when treated the way I want to be treated. And I think I tried to not be so picky and give men the past men chances cause I empathised with there struggles, but I think thats just pity not actual bond. I have been born and bought up in a highly educated/ always stable incomed family and my father never compromised at all specially in travel and food and health.
Do you think this makes me a gold digger?
