Is the friend Elliot skin broken?

So, for context. I'm a dusekkar main, and my friend is an Elliot main. I've never had trouble spawn protecting him, but then he got the friend skin, and i never can. One time i did it, but he moved slightly and it said he was being blocked when he was very clearly in my line of sight, so does it's jacket block spawn protecting?
