Is $400/shift even possible?!!

A fellow employee was adamant that he earned $400/shift w Uber.

Sounds a bit inflated to me, but since I'm considering driving for Uber I'm reaching out to experienced drivers for their input. Is $400/shift realistic given that this guy drives:

5pm to 3am, 7 nights/week

In Columbus, OH. Population 913,000 (in City) Franklin County: ~1,356,000

Average age:33

Median household income: ~$65,000 (couldn't find average household income)

Consumer Price Index (Columbus): ~296 Compared w National CPI: ~319 ( avg cost to live in Columbus is less than national average cost to live)

A few airports like the main one: Port Columbus and a couple of smaller ones.

A number of colleges and universities including the Big Ten OSU. (~61,000 students Main campus. Near downtown)

Attractive retail/restaurant/bar areas like "German Village"/ "Brewery District" (settled by German immigrants in the late 1800's), The Short North (artsy/trendy area near downtown), OSU main campus..also a magnet with many 20-somethings out n about.

The state capital and state Supreme Court

I think it's significant that all areas of interest mentioned are all along one stretch of street (High street) The airports are on the outskirts, but not more than 20 minute drive.

Anyway, maybe that's too much info ...maybe not enough...any thoughts on how realistic is $400/shift given the above is appreciated.

Drive Safe and

Thanks J
