is it bad to break up with someone because of their transition?

hi there, i’m going to be so fr and saying that i’m not the most experienced with reddit but im kind of desperate for support on this.

i (22f) have been dating my partner (21m->f) for 3 years. we first met when they haven’t transitioned yet and dated for 2 years. i love them. they have been the number one in my life and i can say the same vice versa. we have both been in relationships with the same sex in the past however it never really affected our dynamic. we were both raised in a christianity setting however for me it was more instilled in family values, even though i accept and am apart of the community as a bisexual woman.

in our 3rd year together, my partner came out to me as trans and have told me they have been taking hrt for quite a while. as well there have been other factors that occurred however it came to the conclusion that we had to become long distance. what kind of made me think a lot is that they admitted im the reason they hesitated on transitioning and leaving our current place of residence out of fear of losing me. to be quite honest it has been eating me alive. i told them that i shouldn’t be a factor and that they should pursue with the transitioning and they thankfully have. ive done so much so that i actually injected shots and taught them how to do makeup as well.

we are trying really hard to keep the relationship afloat but every-time i see them, they look, smell and don’t feel the same as they did when i got to see them last and especially as the way i first fell in love and i fear that im not being genuine with my thoughts and feeling. however i also want to be apart of their transition because im truly so proud of them doing this. i can tell that the transition is really making them happy and thrive in life and its breaking me that i might have to do this and be selfish about it.

if there are follow ups im also willing to support as well
