Occam's Razor
Someone's post reminded me of the fact that people misunderstand what the principle means. It's not that the simplest solution is the most likely and that's the end of it. It's when the simplest solution is most likely when all things are considered equal. It doesn't apply when the simple solution doesn't fit all the facts.
If we only knew John was found on the side of the road, after a fight with Karen, and everyone says he didn't enter the house than the simplest explanation is she hit him. We obviously know there's far more to it therefore Occam's Razor doesn't automatically apply.
Occam's Razor says that the earth is flat because that's all we can see with our bare eyes. As science has made further discoveries we know that this isn't the case at all. At least I hope everyone here knows that isn't the case.
So, if someone tells you she hit him and then uses this as evidence you can tell them to shush. It's only a principle, not a hard fact.
