New owner here, what octane is everyone filling up with?
Hey guys, soon to be new owner here of a 2022 Kona N. I've done lots of research beforehand and have generally found mixed opinions on the preferred octane for these cars. Seems a lot of people want to play it safe and stick to top tier, but many others say it's perfectly fine on 87. I know the manual says anything over 87, I know in order to achieve peak performance you need above 93, and I know about octane learning. What I really want to know is for general purpose commuting if 87 okay for the life of the engine? My instinct says no since this is a turbo with direct injection, but then why would the manual even suggest 87? I would think (and hope) during testing and R&D Hyundai would have found a reason to suggest only premium. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts and reports from their ownership. Thanks
