Host name / Asset Name - As mandatory field

I was surprised the Asset Name is an optional field and I don't see an option to make it mandatory. Would tinker with php code as we use hosted version anyway.

Is there any better way than adding a custom field f.e. Host Name and setting it required for the field sets I use in my models?
