Trip report (kinda) - 4.5g P. Ochraceocentrata & Tron: Legacy
Backdrop: I had a rough weekend with alot going on in my personal life; I had a great therapy session that helped me reach a really good place mentally/emotionally, and I had a very rare empty house to myself for the evening. I'd just tripped 3 days prior on same dose, same shrooms from the same flush so I fully expected to 'lightly trip' and enhance my evening. What unfolded was by far the most powerfully intense experience of my existence.
I've never tripped solo and have been nervous to because I tend to 'feel like' I can't take care of myself. If I want to watch a movie, I fumble with technology trying to locate what I want to watch & where (which app, etc). I also get pretty bad anxiety on the come up and feel more at ease with my wife present. Anywho I made a 'safety guide' on a notepad so I wouldn't have to fumble with tech to help me, it ended up being a great idea.
I ingest the shrooms via lemon tek (my preferred means) around 7:30ish and listen to music while I'm waiting on effects to begin. I throw a pizza in the oven, serve myself a plate (grazing seems to keep stomach issues at bay for me), and get ready to watch the movie. It's closer to 8:30 and I kinda feel the effects? I usually do by now so I just figured, ok this is according to plan - a light chill trip.
I make the house completely pitch black, we have a 75-inch TV that I'm seated about 10-12 feet away from with a surround sound that vibrates the entire house. I start to wonder if I even want to watch this movie since I don't feel like I'm tripping very much, however it begins to rock my world when Sam (the protagonist) is transported to the grid.
I have never tripped this hard in my life. Not even close. I've tripped on this flush several times now and I keep getting surprised with how fantastic and pleasant they are, but this was an exponential level up. I was grinning so hard, so often my cheeks were hurting. I'm a pretty fit guy, been working out for 25 years and specifically doing intense, no rest HIIT 4x weekly and it truly felt like I'd been training my body and mind for THIS moment. Words just can't relay what I experienced - it was something comparable to what a fighter pilot must experience in high G training or a rollercoaster to the damn moon. I was gripping the couch or myself in varying positions and my breathing was heavy, laborious & rhythmic (out of true necessity).
This intensity was sustained for nearly 2 hours. Occasionally I'd get up to pee or get a drink and noticed with the lights back on, everything was sparkling like diamonds in show room lighting. It was almost blinding. When I was washing my hands and they were sparkling too, I'll admit I got a little nervous. Like holy shit it's a weeknight, I did NOT think this was going to go down like this.
As the intensity of the visual and physical effects began to wane, the journey shifted slightly and I began to feel the emotional weight of this movie in ways I'd never before felt. I could feel the sadness shared by Kevin Flynn & CLU by the loss of a once harmonious brotherhood. The beauty of conditions allowing life (ISOs) to spontaneously exist and the sadness of their genocide at CLU's hand. Reunification of father/son, the father's sacrifice for the son, etc. All of it resonated with me so deeply.
I know I've droned on and on here, this one is just really challenging to give words to. I've done my best and to anyone who hasn't seen Tron: Legacy like this, you simply must! Make it dark as hell, on a big screen, sound UP with BASS. I literally can't believe human beings can experience what I did a few days ago.
