First scene of Escoffier quest brough me back bad memory.

As the title say i started the quest of Escoffier, and the first scene was kinda tough to watch.

My first job at 18, was dishes washer, in a restaurant. I was not an happy nor weathly/healthy dude at the time (around 2010) , no diploma, in constant depress, jumping into the wonderfull world of restaurant and kitchen.

It was like passing in a meatgrinder. The hours of work were hard, every night of everyday most of the time, and some days from 9 am tp 1 am non stop, washing plate, cleaning, and stuff for customer enjoying themselve, while i was hardworking in the noise, bad scent, the wet. But worst than that were colleague, chieff cooker who was a very toxic dude, half the time mocking me, or aggroing me on every single tiny stain present on a plate.

Other colleague were cringe too, they were even watching X movie while working, it was really disturbing experience to witness all this. And as I was not very a "normal" to their standard i was often subject of mokery and disrespect.

One time the cook chief called me "You are a big shit!"

I m sur everyone would enjoy to work in those condition.

I left after 2 years of hardworking there, having enough of this craps, my survival was not worth the suffer and the pain i encountered there.

I know the joke around Escoffier, the Kitchen TV show and stuff, but in fact kitchen restaurant , in France are toxic mooded, I can say that not the best people you meet there. This NPC yelling out the girl at Hotel debord represent exactly this.

My best friend got a diploma for cooking, he could be 3 stars cooker, but he choose to stop to work for restaurant due to all the stuff I described above.

Behind the scene, the jokes or games and tv shows, , remember that for some people this is a reality and it can be a struggle to deal with it everyday.

Restaurants are not healthy work place, and after covids half of the restaurant worker choose to leave their job and take a new path on their life, because they understood they have the choice to do a better job than this. Among that those job are not well paid either.

Anyway I am an happy dude now, and leaving restaurant place was a really good decision.
