Miles would've been lying if he said he hadn't had a crush on MJ since the day they met. Ever since he got bit by his own radioactive spider and started training with Peter, he'd been spending more and more time with MJ. He couldn't get her out of his head. But he also knew she was off limits. No matter how much time they spent together, how close they became, she was still Peter's girl and he was going to respect that. Besides, Peter had a lot on his plate being NYC's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and also the newest member of The Avengers.

Miles had spent months training with Peter. Learning to control his powers and be the best superhero he could be. Now that he was feeling more confident with his powers, he thought he was finally really ready for the mantle of Spider-Man. Which was a good thing, since the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" was swinging around with Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and all the heavy hitters. Going on secret missions with SHIELD, the works. That meant Peter didn't have the time to spend hours swinging around New York City beating up petty criminals and getting cats out of trees. For that, he entrusted Miles with the city's protection.

He also trusted Miles to look out for MJ. He knew their relationship had taken a rocky turn ever since Peter started going off to who knows where and not telling her anything. Miles was just looking out for his friend and doing a favor for his mentor. That was all. He had a lot on his plate too, after all. With a semester at Empire State University under his belt, his mom had moved to a new place in Harlem, and he was doing his best to keep the city safe. Still, most nights he found himself swinging over to MJ's place. He couldn't help but spend time with her. Sure, she might have been older than him, but they got along and he knew when he was around that MJ wasn't thinking about Peter. It also helped to have someone to talk to about the whole Spider-Man thing. Someone who got it.

What he didn't see coming was how his crush for Mary Jane would come roaring back like The Rhino sending him flying into a wall. But as they spent more and more time together, Miles had trouble believing that MJ didn't feel something too. Of course, he didn't expect his suspicions to be confirmed at all. After all, he didn't want to get in between her and Peter. He definitely couldn't just take her all for himself, right? There was no way Mary Jane Watson was interested in some college freshman wannabe Spider-Man…right?

All of those thoughts and doubts went out the window when he came over for one of their movie nights. It was late, nearly 12AM. The two of them were sitting on her couch, leaning close to one another sharing a bowl of popcorn. Miles felt his whole body go rigid as she rested her head on his shoulder. Looking up at him with those dazzlingly beautiful blue eyes reflecting the glow of the TV screen. Miles returned the gaze, feeling his heart beating faster even as he tried to get himself under control.

It didn't do any good. Miles leaned down. MJ raising her head to meet halfway. There was no point in stopping himself as their lips met in a deep, passionate kiss. A kiss that Miles has wanted for a long, long time. That, and more.
