Help me choose a room!

I posted this in r/teenagers as well

So, I'm moving into a 3 bedroom house with only my mother. I can either choose the upstairs bedroom, that has a window, closet and is a bit smaller (I like smaller spaces.) OR I can choose the basement and have it all to myself. There is no window, but it has laundry down there and my own bathroom, plus it is twice as big as the other room. I have visions for both if I were to choose them, but I honestly just can't pick.

For the top room, I was gonna go with a white/brown theme for the furniture, and fill it with plants, posters, and warm lights. In that case i could turn the basement into a "hangout" sorta room. For the basement, I was gonna do LEDs, tapestries, posters and couches with a neon kinda vibe. Then, I could turn the upstairs room into my plant room.

If anyone has any suggestions which to one pick, that would be awsome! I'm leaning towards basement, but I want outside opinions.
