The author is maybe dead??

So the author is dead is, to my understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) about individual's takes on a piece being as valuable as the intent.

Is there a theory/term/etc for that concept, but when the culture decides the meaning as a whole? Or would that fall under death of the author as well.

For example, Alien was not created as a feminist film, but in big ways what they created is an iconic feminist film, even without that intent.

That's the vibe I'm trying to pin down and read about. Death of the Author seems to be more about the individuals lived experince and personal connection to the piece, not the piece becoming iconically what it was not intended to be.
