Just bought my daughter a 2025 hybrid XLE AWD in Phoenix. Confirms the fact that I loathe car shopping. Ran into several dealerships who are awful- Bell road Honda with their strong arm tactics and the 3 different people trying to get me to make a purchase on the spot by dropping $5k off the price and telling me that Toyota dealers were making $10-12k over MSRP 😂

Camelback Toyota was the worst- car we wanted in Woodland trim was on the way-but they don’t take deposits. With all the dealer add ons he gave us a sheet priced at $56,000! Pretty sure they thought 2 women were going to be suckers, eventually they got it down to $46k after showing them our much better offers (including taxes and fees) of low $38k. Ultimately, the no presale/in person deposit and the fact that my daughter is 2.5 hours away in Flagstaff and their ridiculous prices made it easy to be done with them.

We had a great experience at AutoNation Toyota in Tempe with Paityn who deals Costco pricing. Unfortunately, they didn’t have what we needed when we needed it (asap as my daughter will have clinicals).

Bell Road Toyota also has good prices, and we just missed out on the Woodland edition. It was the first car we looked at and I wanted to visit other dealerships and other brands as my daughter hadn’t test driven anything at that point. They played with our emotions telling us that someone put a (non refundable) deposit on the car that night, then called us to say the customer might pick a different car. We spent hours on pins and needles only to be told the customer wouldn’t decide until Friday and that’s the day I fly home. Also, they don’t do deposits over the phone, even after I stated we would 100% commit if we could agree on pricing as I was hoping to to make the drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix 2 days in row (hotel was booked and my kid had finals).

Ultimately, Avondale Toyota was the winner! Mayra was a great sales person and the only one we had to deal with, I never heard a word about warranties and up sales.
