I learned about theatr app a few months ago and was excited to have it. I was able to see many shows at discounted prices. I was really happy when I was new to theater, but now that I’m more familiar, I’m starting to become really disappointed in this app.

I purchased tickets for a next day show from a seller. Let's call them Seller A. Seller A didn't have the tickets yet but marked them as transferred as soon as I bought them. They said seats would be assigned at the box office. I asked if it was TDF, and they said yes. We confirmed multiple times throughout the day, as I wanted to see the show again and didn't care as long as the price was right. The seller told me 30 minutes before the show that the tickets don't have the price on them, which is weird because my TDF tickets still have the price.

I ended up getting sick en route to the show. About 15 minutes before showtime, once I was out of the train, I let seller A know I would be unable to sit in a theater as I was vomiting on the train ride there. I asked if they could exchange the ticket for another day or try to resell it. I was texting as I was throwing up and heading to urgent care so.. It was tough for me.

After ten minutes, about three minutes before showtime, I see the same receipt used under a different but similar seller name, Seller B on the marketplace. Meanwhile my tickets are now marked as completed in my purchases tab. I was confused as to how two sellers could be using the same receipt.

Seller A never sent me any ticket confirmation. As long as your ticket wasn't scanned, you can usually see the show later if you missed it. I don't even know what seats I would have had. They simply told me I had seats in row B. I told them it felt shady and reported it to Theatr.

Theatr representatives told me that being sick is not a valid reason, and that they wouldn't refund me. I then asked why has I still not received any ticket information and how would I know that this person ever had a ticket as they never sent me a photo or even a seat number. The Theatr rep told me that they verified that the seats were open… but how do they know what seat I had when I NEVER RECITMT SEAT LOCATION OR PICTURE KF THE TICKET? And why do you know what seat I had when I don't? How come I still haven't even seen an actual ticket!?

Just wanted to share my situation because it was weird to me. I don't care if they keep the money, but I should at least know what tickets I had and what seats they were. You can't not give me a ticket and keep my money.

Theatr no longer as safe as it used to be
