I'm a fool. A DAMN FOOL!!!
I gave myself mastitis today. For the past 2 hours I have been homesick up writhing in pain, nausea, chills and moaning like a dying dog. No seriously my actual dog is very concerned. And why did I do it? HUBRIS!!! ZEALOUSNESS!! Overexcitment because my oldest got invited to not 1 but 2 birthday parties today! He had a blast but totally not the point. I was pretty sure that I was actually drying out because I did with my first son but this new kiddo latches really well and my breasts have been super drained for almost a week without the need to pump. Sure its only been a month postpartum but who knows you know? Anyways. The first party went well and i fed him a few times by breast and once by formula. Then dropped of the two youngest at home and headed for the second party. Now...the difference between the parties is one was a friend of mine the second was a classmate of my son. His first classmate party. He's had classmates at his birthday but yeah. Anyways...I wasn't totally comfortable expressing there because I don't know these people but I did inform a few other moms that should I adjust of mess with my breasts it was because I was breastfeeding and didn't have time to pump. The time between feeding and when I got home was 5 hours. Not a big deal right? By the time I decided to leave the party I was shivering out of control. Let my little man know I was sick and needed to go home. 10 minute drive and when I got home barely walking, barely able to grab toilet paper in the restroom. I RUSHED to pump and breastfeed. Wrapped myself up in all sorts of blankets and a heating pad for my feet which still don't want to warm up. It's been two hours and my breasts are still sore, I'm still uncomfortable, and still letting out moans every now and again. Hopefully I'm back on schedule and won't have a problem anytime soon but I'm an idiot. This may come off as a light and funny story but this is absolutely a PSA do NOT play around with your feeding/pumping schedule. I'm a FOOL! And also every pain makes me sing part of Misery by Maroon 5. Look it up because its also what i think my toddler cries at any time.
