Chinese women and zodiac signs

For context I’m a western man that lives in a college town in the US with a large Chinese population. I met a Chinese woman here for the second time she’s my friends roommate and she wanted to know what my birthday was so she could look at my zodiac signs usually western woman only do that if they like you is that the same for Chinese woman or just an odd cultural difference? I know she’s recently single and noticed she was acting very bubbly and was super talkative which she definitely wasn’t the last time I saw her.
