What car should I buy?

What I’m looking for: I’d like to buy a relatively small sporty car that’s rwd for cheap, like $4000 range. Also, please don’t roast me, but since I’ll be commuting in it I’d like it to be automatic. I don’t have any kids/don’t need a ton of storage space/backseats. I’ve done basic maintenance on cars like spark plugs/brakes and think I’m mechanically inclined and can do minor repairs(although I’d prefer not to have to be working on the car all the time).

What I’ve been looking at: I of course have looked at miatas and I really like the look of Z3s but I’m not sure about it being a convertible as it will be my daily driver plus I’ll have to street park in a neighborhood where cars get broken into fairly often and would worry about the top being cut open. I looked at last gen firebirds and that was a contender but I’ve had trouble finding a decent one at a decent price. Mustangs are an obvious choice but most of them also seem pretty trashed, and maybe this is stupid of me, but I kinda just don’t like the mustangs vibe. Foxbodys are cool but I think a little too old for me to daily. The car I’m kinda leaning towards right now is a Mercedes C230 Sport Coupe. They’re cheap, I like that they have a hatchback, decent power, have found ones in pretty good condition for pretty cheap, but the wheelbase is slightly longer than I’d like(106 inches). The alternative to that would be a BMW 318ti but those are slightly older and beat up.

Basically I’ve been looking at every single two door car made in the last 40 years for too long and keep flip-flopping on the pros and cons of each, but I need to pull the trigger on something. Please give me a kick in the ass and tell me what to get.
