Have you gotten asked to dances as a teacher?

Humor

I'm a second year high school teacher and I've been asked if I want to go to dances twice now this year and I'm trying to figure out what is going on. They both seemed like jokes when the students asked and I'm curious if others have had students jokingly ask them to dances.

I am a woman but I am not attractive. I'm 30 but my students regularly think I'm in my 40s. I don't wear makeup and I love wearing clothes from my MIL which make me look even older lol. I'm also out as being gay and being married. That's important because the students who have asked me were both boys. I go out of my way to be professional around students. I purposefully lock my door during lunch so I don't hang out with them outside of class. I know they like me as a teacher and I'm fun but strict. I was told my reputation last year was that I run a tight ship.

The first student asked me if I wanted to go to homecoming. I told him no because they would think I'm a chaperone and my wife wouldn't like it. (He then mumbled as I walked away that God gave him two arms for a reason presumably one for me and one for my wife. Another student told me. If you know this kid it is a hilarious comeback tbh.) Then yesterday another kid asked me if I wanted to go to prom with his group. I told him no, of course, and his response was "but we are going to the cheesecake factory!" Which is also hilarious.

So, have you had students ask you to dances? Have they been jokey or seemed more serious?
