I was tired of rebuilding auth + billing every time. So I made a Next.js starter to skip the boilerplate.

Hey folks 👋

I’m a solo dev who’s built (and abandoned) too many side projects to count. Every time I started something new, the pattern was the same:

  • Set up Clerk auth from scratch
  • Wire up Supabase
  • Style everything with Tailwind (again)
  • Figure out billing
  • Build yet another dashboard shell

And every time, I lost momentum before I even got to the actual product idea.

A couple months ago, I decided I’d had enough — I paused all projects and just focused on building the one tool I wished I had from the start: a clean, modern starter kit that gets you from auth to payments to dashboard without touching Stripe docs or Figma.

It’s called GetShipKit and it’s what I now use to spin up new SaaS ideas in hours instead of days.

What’s inside:

  • 🔐 Clerk auth pre-wired (sign up, login, social logins)
  • 🧠 Supabase as the backend + Postgres + real-time
  • 💳 Polar.sh for handling subscriptions, paywalls, and account status
  • 🎨 Tailwind CSS + DaisyUI components
  • ⚡ Next.js + TypeScript scaffold with a working dashboard + pricing page
  • 🧱 Fully typed, minimal setup, production-ready

I didn’t build this to sell anything — I genuinely needed it for myself.

The best part? I’ve now shipped two side projects on top of it. Both are live. I didn’t burn out setting up auth or copy-pasting a dozen pricing page templates. I actually made it to the idea stage — and beyond.

I’d love your thoughts:

  • If you’ve built your own boilerplate — what features did you keep or cut?
  • Anything obvious I’m missing here?
  • Would a version of this tailored for agencies / internal tools be useful?

Not trying to pitch — just wanted to share something that’s made indie dev life way more enjoyable for me. I’ll drop the link in the comments if anyone wants to explore or peek at the code.

Happy to answer anything about the stack, Polar integration, or why I went with DaisyUI over something like shadcn/ui.
