Vaginal biome issues?

For about a year and a half my vaginal pH has been off. At first I thought it was BV (and maybe it was?) and I was prescribed metronidazole (intravaginal). The itching and discharge stopped for a while. But then it came back! So I tried intermittent boric acid, intravaginal probiotics (which my caused a musty odour so I stopped) and now oral probiotics. The oral probiotics might be helping and my doctor also prescribed intravaginal estradiol which also might be helping but has not eliminated all symptoms (though I’m not itchy anymore, thank god).

I also did swabs through my doctor (which were normal for everything they tested) and then paid $300 for an Evvy test later because I still was sometimes itchy or irritated and it showed that my biome was off a bit but not wildly. They suggested probiotics, lactoferrin and intermittent (occasional) boric acid. I don’t use the boric acid more than 1 dose monthly. I just seem to be teetering on the verge of BV all the time with a lot of discharge which seems no quite healthy in colour and amount.

My doctor said that one symptom of peri or low estrogen can be excessive discharge and susceptibility to infection due to low pH. We were hoping the estradiol would help with that. It’s been 2+ months now and no significant change… but again, not itchy anymore due either to probiotics, estradiol or just my biome finding it’s balance on its own somehow…

Anyone else struggling with this? I’d love to hear any success or even struggle stories because I don’t know anyone else with this issue. For reasons I won’t get into I’m not entertaining HRT at this time. Thanks for reading. Sorry if it’s a bit confusing; it’s been a confusing journey!!
