Weird Glitch: 3 Flashing Mouse Cursors Appear Diagonally – Anyone Know What This Is?
Hey everyone, hoping someone here can help me figure this out — I've been dealing with a strange and super annoying mouse issue on my PC.
Here’s what happens:
Out of nowhere, completely at random, my mouse cursor duplicates into three flashing cursors that appear diagonally across the screen. It looks like this:
- The middle cursor is my normal one (the actual, functional one).
- Above it is a smaller version of the cursor.
- Below it is a larger version of the cursor.
- They are spaced out diagonally, like top-left → middle → bottom-right.
- All three flash rapidly and move in sync with the actual cursor.
- The two extra cursors don’t function — they’re just there visually, like reflections or echoes.
- The only way I’ve found to fix it is to restart my PC.
- They would eventually all overlap each other once they hit the left top corner and they will expand out the closer they are to the bottom right corner
It doesn’t seem to be triggered by any specific action or program — it just happens randomly, maybe once every few days or weeks. I’m not running any multi-cursor apps or virtualization software. It happens even when I’m just on the desktop or browsing the web.
Things I’ve already tried:
- Updated graphics drivers
- Changed mouse and tested different USB ports
- Disabled pointer trails and other mouse effects in settings
- Checked for malware (just in case)
- Recently did a factory reset on my PC — the issue came back afterwards
- No display scaling weirdness or multi-monitor setups (I only use one monitor)
hopefully its not a malware because I factory reset like 2 months ago and I don't think I caught a virus.
