The truth behind computer chip issues in newer cars?
Hello everyone. I currently have a 2009 Honda Accord that I got for roughly $10k back in 2018. It had about 64,000 miles on it at the time. It currently has 128,000 miles, and I've had to replace certain parts over the last few months; a couple brake/rotor replaces, some axel stuff, a gasket leak that required a $650 repair, and things like that. I'm starting to wonder if it would be a good idea to just get a newer car. I asked my mechanic, who has done good work for me and has great reviews if it's that time, and he said he thinks it almost is. Before this car I had a 2001 Accord.
I told him I was going to look into getting a newer model, probably something 2020+, and I was thinking another Accord.
He told me some issues with Honda and how they do recalls, and the trouble with newer models and chip issues that can occur. I didn't get "boomer vibes" from him, older people yelling at the sky about those damn kids and their computers, etc. I was wondering how much truth there is to newer models having computer issues that fuck with everything.
Is it worth the hassle? It would be nice having a rear view camera, lol
Anyway, I was thinking another Accord or a Civic (he said Toyota's are always good, you guys might like him). I heard Civics don't handle as well as Accords, but that's just what I've read. I've always been an accord guy.
Thoughts?
