AITA for getting upset when kids blew out my birthday candles?
Okay, so this happened back in like 2022, it was my 12th bday and i was excited and all, it was my first time i was ever allowed to host a birthday party, though my mom controlled the people invited, and she didn't let me invite friends, just all of our extended family, i didn't mind, it was my first time having a birthday party anyway so that was more fun than the invite list.
So the bday went normally, except that there was like over ten different kids i had never seen in my entire life (they were my mom's work friend's kids {please tell me you understood that loop 😭}) and they were opening my presents and literally started taking some of them, i was confused but i figured the adults would take charge, surprise, they didn't.
now it's time to sing happy birthday and all, i miraculously manage to stand in front of the cake which made a few kids cry but i was getting pissed honestly, now my mom told me to let the kids stand at the cake and i said no, my dad stood up for me and said no too, now whilst they were singing i notice the adults picking up their kids, and standing in almost line, my brows furrowed cause i was so fucking confused, well the second the song was over and i was about to blow the candles, i get stopped and pulled to the side while the parents take turns relighting the candles for their kids to blow the candles, I'm not kidding i stood there for fifteen minutes watching random kids blow out my candles, i know it might be odd but i low key wanted to cry. now i recently brought it up and my mom says i'm being petty, and that i was an adult and should've acted like a grown person, but that was the only birthday i ever had done and it went to waste, so, AITA?
