Need Help Deciding: DO Acceptances vs. Waitlists – KansasCOM, ATSU-KCOM, ICOM, Midwestern (AZ/IL)

Hey everyone,

I’m really torn right now and could use some advice from people who’ve been in similar situations or know more than I do.

Here’s where I stand:

  • Got accepted to KansasCOM for this upcoming cycle (2025 entry) – no gap year needed.
  • Got accepted to ATSU-KCOM for 2026 – would require a 1-year gap.
  • On high-priority waitlist for ICOM.
  • Interview with Midwestern Arizona tomorrow.
  • On waitlist for Midwestern Chicago – my brother goes there; they’re known to pull from the waitlist very late.

The issue:
I would normally be thrilled to take any acceptance right away, but I’ve read quite a few concerning things about KansasCOM – being new, recently accredited, and struggling with preparation, structure, and support. It’s making me question if it’s worth going there just to avoid a gap year.

ATSU-KCOM is way more established, but I’d have to wait a whole year – and that’s not ideal either. ICOM and both Midwestern campuses are still in the air, but I feel like they’re stronger options if they pan out.

Has anyone here attended KansasCOM or heard credible feedback about their current situation? Would you take the safer, more established school even with a gap year? Or roll the dice and see what happens with the waitlists?

Would love your insight. I feel stuck.
