Seeking Advice After Poor Experience
Hello!
I had an absolutely dreadful experience with my local CarMax in Delaware yesterday. The short version is as follows…
I paid nearly $1000 to ship a car with less than 30,000 miles up from Florida. When I went to complete the purchase at my local store, there were a litany of issues with the vehicle. These included:
1.) Loud noises when applying the brakes. I didn’t confirm, but it may only be that the pads need to be replaced. 2.) Hard to describe exactly but something sounded “off” with the way that the engine was running. I brought my wife along for the test drive and she completely agreed. 3.) The small antenna (that was included in the online listing) had been snapped off. 4.) Minor nits - the car was filthy and the associate was beyond incompetent (I thought the brake noise was just because of the rain, I didn’t realize the antenna had snapped/I thought that you’d just screw one on there)
In any event, I was so frustrated that I walked out but I’m curious what my course of action should be now that I’ve calmed a bit. What checks should have been completed? Should the vehicle have been delivered with glaring issues under any circumstance? Can I request maintenance? Also, understand that the shipping charge is a separate transaction but surely, there must be some room to waive it if the car is handed over in such poor condition?
Thoughts and advice appreciated!
