I have to give up my baby of 8 years and I'm broken.
My boa has been with me since he was 6 weeks old, so I've pretty much had him his whole life.
I raised him and I was always so proud of the way he grew with me and bonded with me.
In all the time I've had him, I have a 6 year long relationship and 2 kids.
So much shit has happened to change our circumstances, but to keep it short, we can no longer afford to keep him. He has gone a few months without eating because we simply do not have money for his food after all the bills (sad right? Since snake food is only 20 bucks a month).
I hate this, but i dont want him to stay in a home where he isn't properly cared for. I have spent the last few months looking into sanctuaries and their connections, hoping someone would take him. I really dont want him to go to some rando on the street.
Unfortunately the sanctuaries are full and breeders around here won't take him because hes a male (females make babies so that's where the money comes from), no space since hes too big for them (7ft) or because hes just a normal bci with normal colors (so no interesting genes they could use for breeding).
I'm having trouble making sure he goes to a good home. My last resort is a reptile shop, but at this point I really dont have a choice since we're moving into a home where no reptiles are allowed.
I'm heartbroken and I'm not sure what's going to happen to him. But he needs a better life then what I can give him now.
